History of Homeschooling

This article, 9 Things You Should Know About the History of the Homeschooling Movement, was interesting. I know the generations before me have worked hard to pave the way for us homeschoolers today – legally and culturally. Maybe it is just my town and community, but in my limited experience, homeschooling has been well embraced. Even when our family did swim lessons this summer, and I was plunged into conversations with public school moms, several of them were lamenting to me how they wished they could homeschool. (Maybe they were just being nice.) But not one person asked me the dreaded question about “socialization.” In fact, despite the warnings of seasoned homeschool moms, I have not once been asked the “socialization” question in my three years of homeschooling. Perhaps the tides are turning?
