September’s Scripture Writing Plan

From Narrow-Minded Woman, Genesis: Part 2 “Last month we started our slow walk though the Bible. I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t believe all that I learned. I have studied Genesis so many times over the years yet, I still found things that astonished me. My favorite part was finding glimpses of the Gospel in the most likely of places.

“This month, we will be going through chapters eight to fourteen. We will follow the family of Noah to Abram. In these chapters we will read about the repopulation of the earth, the sinfulness of mankind continuing to prevail, God confusing the languages and scattering the people, and we will be introduced to Abram and Lot. God will continue to reveal Himself in these next few pages and give us glimpses of His redemptive plan.”

Expect Criticism

This article from Josh Buice is a good reminder for those of us who struggle with people pleasing. “One of the lessons I’ve learned over the course of my ministry is to not take all criticism as a negative attack.  Although some attacks do come and some people certainly don’t understand what pastors are called to do, that doesn’t mean that all criticism is unbiblical attacks.  Consider the following points and how to respond properly to leadership critique.”

Lessons from an Otter

I’m not just posting this article, from Randy Alcorn, because otters are so cute… but eeee! How cute! Okay, now that that’s out of my system, what a great lesson this is to all of us who are afraid to do that next hard thing. If this otter could talk, I think he would say, “This is the best! It is where I am meant to be!”

A Plant’s Defense

In this TED-Ed video, The Amazing Ways Plants Defend Themselves, we learn about the many defenses of plants. Most of these were new to me. This is fascinating. It really gives a whole new meaning to Genesis 3:17-19: “…cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground..”

Women’s Hope Podcast Episode 54: Marci Ferrell on Loving Our Husbands
“Marci Ferrell of Thankful Homemaker joins us to discuss how to love our husbands better. As wives, we tend to be good at sacrificial love, but how are we doing at the tender, affectionate phileo kind of love in our marriage? How can you bring honor to the Gospel as a wife?” (36 minutes)
