Blogging Through Biblical DoctrineHave you wanted to read a theology book, but haven’t known where to begin? In this series, Jess is blogging through John MacArthur and Richard Mayhue’s book, Biblical Doctrine. Print the study guides at the bottom of each post (or on the Resources page) and follow along! Also, be sure to join the associated women’s Facebook page to discuss the study with other Christian women. Finally, if you want to go back and start at the beginning you may find the Introduction article here.
This is our last week studying the Trinity. In this section you will be reading about the New Testament evidences of the Trinity, and they are quite profound.
There are two doctrines covered in your reading that might require further enrichment. So here’s a bit more information on the “eternal generation of the Son” and “the eternal procession of the Holy Spirit”:
- Got Questions answers, “What is the eternal generation of the Son?”
- And here is a little more on the “eternal procession of the Holy Spirit” from Ligonier.
I hope these links help you wrap your brain around these challenging doctrines. However, remember not to be frustrated by these doctrines because our human minds are not fully capable to comprehend the relationship of the Trinity. It remains, in part, one of God’s great and beautiful mysteries.
Here is your study guide for Theology Proper 8.
I’ll see you next week for our discussion on the decree of God, divine miracles, and divine providence.
